St. Joseph's Province, Missionaries of Compassion
The Ministry of Food for the Hungry is a vital expression of the mission of the Missionaries of Compassion, responding to the cry of those who struggle daily for a meal. Inspired by the love of Christ, this ministry seeks to nourish both the body and the spirit, affirming the dignity of every person and sharing God’s compassionate care with the poorest and most vulnerable.
Hunger is more than the absence of food; it is often accompanied by poverty, rejection, and hopelessness. Through this ministry, the Missionaries of Compassion reach out to men, women, and children who live on the margins of society—those who are homeless, unemployed, elderly, or sick, — offering them the simple yet powerful gift of a meal served with love.
Whether through daily feeding programs in our soup kitchens, or through meals on wheels outreach programme to streets and slums, or emergency relief efforts, the Missionaries of Compassion strive to create an atmosphere of warmth, dignity, and belonging.
The Ministry of Food for the Hungry serves people of all backgrounds, religions, and cultures. Guided by compassion alone, the Missionaries of Compassion do not discriminate, but respond wherever hunger is found. Special attention is given to children, the elderly, and those who are unable to provide for themselves.
Through the Ministry of Food for the Hungry, the Missionaries of Compassion continue their mission of love—breaking bread with the poor, restoring dignity to the hungry, and revealing the compassionate heart of God to the world.
